Your Body, Your Best Investment
The only place you have to live is your body. At Turning Point Chiropractic we strive to help you enjoy living there everyday. The doctors believe leading a healthy lifestyle through prevention and wellness is crucial. Therefore, they whole-heartedly ‘practice what they preach’.
Simply, if your body is where you live, many functions could be similarly compared to a house. Our muscles, bones and soft tissue are the foundation and nerves are the wires. When a fuse blows or the wires aren’t working properly you lose electricity. In the same regard, when our nerves decrease their potential, parts of our body can lose function. Or when the foundation of a house falls apart, the structure breaks down. The muscles, bones and soft tissue are the structural ‘walls’. When they deteriorate or lose strength, the body feels the effects. Our job as chiropractors is a like a combination between the electrician and contractor. We aim to restore function to the ‘wires’ or nerves and fix the ‘foundation’ or muscles, bones and soft tissue.
Keep in mind, your house is equipped with safety mechanisms such as fire alarms, and your body also has signals which tell the brain something is wrong. If the fire alarm goes off and there is already a fire, damage has been done. Similar to the fire alarm, when pain is felt, it is one of the last signals telling the body something is not right. Additionally, damage to surrounding structures can be found and it will take time to repair, especially if the pain has been noticed for a while.
Research studies have shown when a joint is immobile, it takes only 4 weeks for scar tissue and other changes to occur. Meaning, you don’t need to experience pain for damage to be done! Knowing this, we understand the importance of keeping joints moving properly through chiropractic.
